Lev tahor – Pure Heart
On 5 November 1962, the Saviour was born in Jerusalem. Or at least, Shlomo Helbrans, wannabe* Messiah, later founder of the Jewish sect (yikes yikes, we want to say religious community) called Lev Tahor (Pure Heart), friend of the Taliban, kidnapper arrested by mistake, miracle Arab, fugitive persecuted by secret agents, husband, father, best husband, best father, best Jew; the pure heart itself. He took his pure heart with him from Israel to America, from America to Canada, from Canada to Guatemala, from Guatemala to Mexico, from Mexico to the grave. Then his son Nachman took the heart back to Guatemala. We hope not literally…
Hard as it may be to believe, our production is a drama based on real events; based on contemporary documents, interviews with survivors and current members, newspaper articles, court testimonies and percripts, and improvisations by members of the company, it is an absurd yet frightening journey into the mind of a man.
Please accompany us on this journey at your own risk.
